PART-TIME DISPATCHER POSITION
The Abington Police Department is currently looking for a part-time police dispatcher. This position will be for (2) 8 hour shifts (4pm-12pm) for a total of 16 hours each week. Once trained the dispatcher will be assigned to the two evening shifts during a period between Mondays through Friday. During training more duty hours may be assigned to accomplish training needs.
Position summary: Receive and process police, fire and EMS related emergency and general calls using various state and local protocols. Dispatch police, fire and EMS, and other agency units and personnel as needed. Monitor and operate radio, computer, telephone and other specialized equipment in support of public safety communications and dispatch functions. Must have very good communication skills with the ability to multi-task under stressful conditions. Candidates will be required to assist the public that walks into the police facility and call the facility with non-emergency and emergency requests. Perform other duties as assigned.
