Advisory: Town Manager announces extended Hours at both Senior Center and Island Grove this Saturday and Sunday.

On behalf of Town Manager Richard LaFond, Department of Public Works Superintendent John Stone, Council on Aging Director Suzanne D'Justberg, and Police Chief David Majenski, due to anticipated high temperatures, the town has announced that it will be opening the Abington Senior Center and extending the hours at the Island Grove Swimming Area over the weekend.

The Abington Senior Center, located at 441 Summer Street will be open as a cooling location for residents looking to stay out of the heat and chill! The Senior Center will be open on both this Saturday and Sunday from 9am until 9pm for those wishing to relax in a cool environment with family or friends.

The Island Grove Swimming Area will extend their hours from 9am until 7 pm on both Saturday and Sunday! We hope residents will take advantage of these extended hours and day passes can be purchased for those who may be looking for a new place to stay cool. The Swimming Area can be accessed through Park Ave or Wilson Place.

With the anticipated heat, we encourage everyone to reduce your outside activities and drink plenty of water! Please remember to check on those family members and neighbors vulnerable to the heat to see how they are doing. Don't hesitate to call 911 if anyone is experiencing heat related issues!
