Abington Police Re-Accreditation

The Abington Police Department is again up for Re-Accreditation and will again participate in a grueling on-site assessment during January 23rd, 24th, and the 25th of this year.  We have been an accredited agency for the last 6 years and this assessment will provide us with three more years of such an honor if successful.  Under the leadership of Chief David Majenski, it's the department's continued goal to maintain those standards and operational procedures that ensure the most professional delivery of services possible.

Accreditation is a self-initiated evaluation process by which police departments strive to meet and maintain standards that have been established for the profession, by the profession. These carefully selected standards reflect critical areas of police management, operations, and technical support activities. They cover areas such as policy development, emergency response planning, training, communications, property and evidence handling, use of force, vehicular pursuit, prisoner transportation and holding facilities. The program not only sets standards for the law enforcement profession, but also for the delivery of police services to citizens of the commonwealth.

This is a great honor for the department and it couldn't be done without the conscientious work the men and woman that make up the Department!
